Considerations

  • Pre-Operation Checklist is a prerequisite for ANY operation.
  • Tool/Machine Manufacturer's safety rules and guidelines are followed.
  • Verifies tool is properly guarded.
  • Proper stance and hand position are demonstrated.
  • Spot check results following the operation.
  • If required select proper program from controller.
  • Operator clears machine and cleans work area after use.
  • Required OSHA approved personal protective equipment is worn.
  • Lock-out/Tag-out procedure is in place and followed.
  • Process in completed in a timely manner.

Pre-Operation Checklist

Level 1

Performance Standard -
  • Demonstrates knowledge of and proper use of all machine specific controls.
  • Verifies incoming material thickness.
  • Ensures opening is set for incoming material thickness.
  • Ensures proper air pressure is supplied.
  • Ensures proper heat is applied.
  • Monitors all supply levels.
  • Ensures paths of in-feed and out-feed have no obstructions to material and operator.

Level 2

Performance Standard -
  • Powers up machine and verifies proper operating temperature has been reached.
  • Selects and actives appropriate cycle time and heat for incoming material.
  • Assures minimal burn on completed block.
  • Sets beam height to within 0.1 mm [0.0039’’] based on panel thickness.
  • Enables correct stations for given material/process.
  • Meets Level 1 performance standard.

8.7.1 - Glue-up materials

Level 1

Given machine set up, adjusted, with material ready to assemble, glue up the given material or parts.
Performance Standard -
  • Feeds materials properly into machine
  • Joins correct edges in proper sequence
  • Identifies basic material and processing defects

Level 2

Given material ready to assemble, set up machine and apply heat and pressure cycle to specifications.
Performance Standard -
  • Loads program and/or adjusts machine for given material.
  • Sets up and adjusts all processing stations.
  • Corrects basic processing defects.
  • Produces parts which exhibit acceptable glue line with minimal glue residue.
  • Powers down machine in accordance with machine manual.
  • Meets Level 1 performance standard.
