8.9 Pinch Roller

Considerations

  • Pre-Operation Checklist is a prerequisite for ANY operation.
  • Machine safety orientation, hazard awareness, consequence of misuse and equipment limitations instructed by an experienced operator.
  • Demonstrates correct body posture during machine operation.
  • Safety quick stop activator is installed and fully operational.
  • Demonstrates control of stock and safe feed of material in and out of platens.
  • Clears machine and cleans work area after operation.
  • Required OSHA approved personal protective equipment is worn.
  • Lock-out/Tag-out procedure is in place and followed.
  • Process is completed in a timely manner.

Pre-Operation Checklist

Level 1

Performance Standard -
  • Verifies all emergency stops are in place and functioning.
  • Verifies core material thickness.
  • Verifies press rollers are clean, flat and free of blemishes.

Level 2

Performance Standard -
  • Selects proper adhesive for given task and material.
  • Inspects and cleans top and bottom rollers.
  • Material is prepared and appropriately staged at machine.
  • Meets Level 1 performance standard.


8.9.1 - Press Flat Panels

Level 1

Given machine set up, adjusted, and decorative material prepared, apply the decorative material to the substrate.
Performance Standard -
  • Applies glue line using controlled shop method
  • Loads material into press in timely fashion (within allowed open time of glue)
  • Unloads panel safely out of machine
  • Face is smooth with no evidence of delamination
  • Glued surfaces have minimal glue saturation
  • There is minimal adhesive squeeze-out at edges of substrate

Level 2

Using given specifications and company practice, select substrate, set up machine and apply decorative material to the substrate.
Performance Standard -
  • Powers up rollers and verifies all are functioning
  • Determines roller speed and time relative to adhesive being utilized
  • Determines that panel meets quality standards
  • Powers down rollers
  • Meets Level 1 performance standard.
